Baby Bedan
After being pregnant for about 38 weeks and 5 days, my "water broke" while trying to take a nap on August 19, 2012.
Earlier that day, Emil and I had a deep discussion on what to do and where to go. We were bored out of our minds wanting to escape the Ewa Beach heat, and I was getting hot and bothered. Being so far pregnant did not help the situation. We couldn't decide what to do with ourselves and just took a nap in the air conditioning.
I woke up in the middle of my nap starting to sweat, so I rolled as best I could out of bed to make the a/c stronger. After a few minutes of lying back in bed, I felt like I peed myself a bit. Assuming it was another one of those pregnancy moments, I got up to use the toilet. The closer I got to the toilet, the more awake I was becoming because the leaking was increasing as I walked. When I finally got there, bloody show appeared and panic and worry set in.
As I was contacting the doctor, Emil was getting our things ready. Things that, at the time, we did not know we wouldn't be able to use. Luckily, it was a Sunday, so the drive into town was not so bad. Although, it did feel like it took a while, and I could feel every speedbump and pothole.
Once we got to the hospital around 15:30, Emil dropped me off at the door where I stood waiting for him to come back. It felt like I've been standing there for an hour. We went to check-in at the admissions office. And as I stood up to get into a wheelchair (afraid of gushing onto the floor and slipping), a gush of fluid ran down. I was so thankful to wear pants, the whole time I was worried about making a mess.
It was a busy day (apparently, 2012 so far is), so it took a while for us to get seen and get a room. I wasn't contracting at all, so they had to start me on pitocin. By the time we got a room, I wasn't progressing strong enough or fast enough.
My pitocin was raised and my contractions were painful by midnight. I gave in and got an epidural around 0100, because I was getting so drained that if time to push came, I wouldn't be able to do so effectively. We both got to sleep decently throughout the night and was instructed to push starting 1130. After about an hour of ineffective pushing, my epidural was stopped and I started to feel everything an hour later.
After painful contractions, tears, and at least one episiotomy, baby girl Emma Luna was born at 1503. She was 8 lbs, 0.2 oz, and 21 inches long!!
She is very strong and very long, already fitting into 3-6 month clothing. Breastfeeding her is still a challenge given her strength, but well worth it. We are constantly reminded that this long journey is worth going through everytime we see her cute squishy face!

Stats and Updates
4/6/2012 - 19+1 weeks today. Almost halfway through the pregnancy, and I think I definitely felt baby from the outside. Well, not really "feel," more like "saw." I was minding my own business watching YouTube videos of baby gear reviews with my hands on my stomach, and bam! My hand moved, not twitched, moved. Without my doing. It seems baby is very active since the sonographer wobbled baby to get a picture. -V
4/4/2012 - 18+6 weeks today. Went for our what Emil calls our baby's "Super Ultrasound" yesterday afternoon. Baby was hiding behind the placenta, so the tech needed a few attempts to get a head shot. I still love the pic below. Baby has all the parts in the proper place, no more, no less. A good size/weight for his/her gestational age. -V
3/15/2012 - 16 weeks. Just had our monthly check up. Doctor estimates baby's hr at 150 bpm. Baby's starting to move! The doctor was trying to read baby's heart rate and she/he was trying to run away from the Doppler! Smart little one! I'm also starting to feel some fluttering/movement internally. I hope that we can start to feel movement from the outside soon! So exciting! We also went for a research trip to Baby Emporium and got to check out high-end strollers. Was very exciting and we pretty much figured out what we wanted in baby gear. I'll be tweaking registries as we go along. Not all stores have what we'd like, so we registered at a few stores. -V
2/29/2012 - Happy Leap Day! It's like my belly just popped out overnight! Pictures to come soon, or when Emil finds the time to take my picture. -V
1/12/2012 - First prenatal appointment at Queen's. Baby measures at 7 weeks and confirmed a due date of August 30! Heart is beating at a healthy 130 bpm. I'm hoping I could delay labor and share being a Dragon, a Virgo, and a birthdate with baby. -V

Registries
We are currently have registries at several places. If the links below don't take you directly to our registry, search using our names. In-store, there are computer kiosks near/next to the customer service desk. There, you could type in our name to look up and print our registry list which you could then show to the cashier to note that the item(s) has been purchased! Since I'm using multiple stores, I do my best to list an item where it is cheaper. Gift cards and cash are always welcome :) Thanks!
